INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION PROCESS

For International Student applicants applying from outside Canada or the USA

Admissions Standards

SBC’s mission is to empower servant leaders to follow Jesus, serve the Church, and engage the world.

Applicants for admission to SBC should be professing Christians, willing to grow in discipleship in line with SBC’s mission. Their character and conduct must be compatible with the standards of the college and they must be willing to submit to the college Community Covenant and Guidelines.

Applicants should be graduates from an accredited high school or have equivalent standing. International students should submit official transcripts of all previous education. A limited number of mature students who have not completed high school may be accepted. The college reserves the right to stipulate what preliminary entrance tests are required.

Application Deadline

International students should complete their application to SBC early – 6 months before start date in September. Study permit and full tuition/fees must be in by August 1 for a September start.

Application Procedure

SBC Application

  • English Language scores (if applicable)
  • $500 (CDN) International Student Application Fee (non-refundable) – Pay Here.
  • 2 references
  • 1 headshot photo
  • Official transcripts
  • Medical information
  • Housing (or dorm) application form

At this point, SBC will process the application and contact the student regarding acceptance.

NOTE – It is not necessary for the student to engage the services of a recruiter in order to apply for admission to a program.

Next Steps

    1. Study Permit ** – Apply to Canadian Immigration and Citizenship for a Study Permit. Approved Study Permit must be submitted no later than August 1 for a September start.
    2. Payment – Full tuition and fees for semester 1 must be paid by August 1, along with approved Study Permit. Any refunds will be deposited directly to the bank that issued the payment, minus 5%.
    3. Register – Class registration will occur as soon as you submit your study permit. It is best to do so in July-early August in order to receive your textbooks on time. You will receive further instructions when you submit your study permit.
    4. Medical Insurance – After you register for classes, we will purchase International student medical insurance for you through Guard.Me. You will need to choose the insurance coverage start and end dates in the registration form we will send you. The cost of this coverage is approximately $1.65 per day per person (so a stay of 365 days would cost $602.25) per person.

The school year runs from September to April. There are no classes in the summer.

** Study Permit Updates with Immigration Canada – Review Government of Canada for the latest requirements for your study permit. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada.html

On December 1, 2023, a new version of the study permit form became available. If you’re applying through the IRCC secure account, this version must be used to submit study permit applications starting on this date. Applications submitted on or after December 1, 2023, that use the old version of the form, will not be accepted.

Please note as of January 1, 2024, all study permits applicants will be required to show proof of funding:

  • $20,635 of living expenses, tuition and fees (see prices below), plus travel costs to and from Canada

After classes begin each semester:
